Getting Started

Is Continents newbie friendly?

Yes. After Mud School, the best areas to start levelling are the Arena and its surrounding zones: Bird Village (safe for anyone), Day Care, Fun Factory, and the Orchard. Check the Arena map for directions. Avoid the Arena dungeon until you have a few more levels.

What happens if I die?

Your corpse drops where you died and you are transported to the nearest safe room. You must then retrieve your equipment yourself, find someone to help, or re-equip without your lost items.

How does recall work?

Recall on Continents is zone-based — it always takes you to a safe room, but that room's surroundings may still be dangerous. Use the zone command to find out where your recall room is.

  • Levels 1–4: mobs you flee from won't chase you; recall is free.
  • Level 5+: mobs will chase when you run; recall requires a spell, potion, wand, or scroll.

Gameplay

What is the maximum mortal level?

75. After that, characters enter the realm of “remort” options and faction/clan leadership.

How do I gain XP?

There is no XP for simply killing mobs. XP is earned by using skills during combat. The more you actively fight and use your abilities, the more XP you gain.

How do I learn skills?

Skills are learned through practice — use them. You can also visit trainers to practice specific skills when you have practice points available (earned on level-up).

Is role-playing required?

It is not required, but it is encouraged and appreciated. Continents has a long tradition of good storytelling through player characters and clan structures.

Privacy & Policy

What is the privacy policy?

Continents does not collect any personal information beyond what is entered directly into the game (character name, password). No information is shared with third parties.

Can staff see what I type?

Immortals (staff) can snoop player channels with valid justification. This is used only for maintaining order and resolving disputes, not for general monitoring. If you feel you are being snooped without cause, you may file a complaint with the Implementers.
